With all pieces in use, it is a heatable buffet server with durable, see-through lids covering three separate 2.5-quart trays. Remove the 3 tray inserts and you've got a large, 7.5-quart serving tray that can be used atop the heating unit or as a standalone, stove-top or oven cooking/serving pan. Or remove all trays and lids and the a unit is a flat, traditional warming tray onto which your own pots or dishes can be heated for serving. The adjustable temperature control heats the unit from 135-185 degrees Fahrenheit.
